August 2026 Gospel Mission Update
Throughout August, we continued to see God at work as the Gospel was shared across Ethiopia and beyond. People heard the Good News of Jesus, new believers began their journey of faith, and pastors and ministry leaders were equipped to faithfully serve their communities. We are grateful for every open door and every opportunity God provides to make Jesus known and strengthen His Church.
August Ministry Impact
23,236 people reached with the Gospel
258 decisions for Christ
362 people receiving follow-up and discipleship
110 believers baptized
Behind every number is a person who heard the name of Jesus, a new believer beginning a life of faith, or a disciple growing deeper in their relationship with Christ.
The Gospel Is Going Forward
Ethiopia
Through general evangelistic outreach, 7,554 people heard the Gospel, and 121 people accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. An additional 210 people are currently receiving follow-up and discipleship, and 77 believers were baptized after completing follow-up and baptism teaching.
Ministry also continued in areas where sharing the Gospel can be especially challenging.
In Islamic-dominated communities, underground evangelism reached 4,800 people, with 49 people making decisions for Christ. Currently, 108 new believers are receiving follow-up, and 33 believers were baptized.
In Ethiopian Orthodox-dominated areas, underground evangelism reached another 5,432 people. 35 people responded to the Gospel, and 44 believers from current and previous outreaches continue to receive follow-up and discipleship.
Across the Nations
God is also opening doors beyond Ethiopia.
Egypt
More than 2,000 people were reached with the Gospel, and 25 people made decisions for Christ.
Sudanese Refugee Communities
More than 950 people heard the message of Jesus, with 13 people responding to the Gospel.
Eritrea
More than 500 people were reached, and 15 people made decisions for Christ.
Middle East
More than 2,000 people were reached with the message of the Gospel.
Equipping Believers and Gospel Workers
Evangelism is only part of the mission. We are committed to helping believers grow in their faith and equipping leaders to faithfully carry the Gospel forward.
On August 18–19, 42 full-time ministers and leaders from nine local churches participated in a two-day training focused on Good Shepherding and pastoral ministry.
Through biblical teaching, group discussion, prayer, and worship, these leaders gained practical and biblical foundations for faithfully shepherding God's people. They also committed to protecting believers in their communities from false teaching and misleading spiritual practices.
We praise God not only for those coming to Christ, but also for the pastors, evangelists, and ministry leaders being equipped to faithfully shepherd His Church and make disciples.
Please Pray With Us
As the Gospel continues to advance, we invite you to pray:
• For peace and stability in South Sudan, Sudan, and Ethiopia.
• For the Lord to send more workers into the harvest as opportunities to share the Gospel throughout Ethiopia continue to grow.
• For God to raise up faithful, biblically grounded pastors and ministry leaders who will protect and proclaim the truth of the Gospel.
• For the upcoming Gospel crusade in Holota, Ethiopia, that God would prepare hearts and use this outreach to draw many people to Christ.
“The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.”
Matthew 9:37
Together, We Are Reaching the Nations
We praise God for every person reached, every decision for Christ, every baptism, and every believer being discipled.
And we are deeply grateful for the churches, donors, prayer partners, and ministry friends who make this work possible.
Thank you for praying. Thank you for giving. Thank you for helping take the Gospel where it is needed most.
